Special certification

Organic ethanol in accordance with the Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance

Alcosuisse has in its range organic ethanol which is certified according to the Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance.
This ethanol is in line with the Ordinance of 22 September 1997 on Organic Farming and the Labelling of Organically Produced Products and Foodstuffs. This is an ethanol with high added value due to the criteria which have to be met in the production of the raw material and its refinement. Currently these products are used in a niche market for manufacturing spirits, flavourings, homeopathic medicines and skincare products.

Knospe organic ethanol in accordance with Bio Suisse

In the same category as organic ethanol according to the Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance is ethanol from biological cultures which is in line with the Bio Suisse guidelines and directives for Knospe products. These are more stringent than the Federal Ordinance as regards raw materials, fertilizers, crop rotation and production tools.

Organic ethanol according to the USDA National Organic Program (NOP)

NOP ethanol is a product in line with the US national guidelines, which are similar to the Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance.
All of the qualities of ethanol listed above have been certified by bio.inspecta, in Frick, Switzerland.

Kosher certification

Alcosuisse also has Kosher ethanol in its range. Kosher-grade ethanol must be stored separately and must not come into contact with other ethanol grades.

Our entitlement to sell Kosher-grade ethanol is examined by the rabbinate of the Israeli Religious Community and is confirmed with certification.
Regular checks concerning the handling of ethanol are carried out by Rabbinical Food Supervision in Zurich.

With its Kosher certification, Alcosuisse guarantees that the ethanol supplied and the transportation containers used meet the Kosher requirements.

Passover

Alcosuisse also provides ethanol grades which are compliant with Passover. These are kosher types of ethanol which are not made from cereals and which have had no contact with cereals and related products during production (e.g. the containers and piping).
